the gammadion is a frequently used design in pagan era europe from greece and rome where it was an element more of decorative design to the northlands where it took on the meaning of sunwheel.
in some places you can still see "meander" or greek key design that is done with swastikas, such as the old chicago public library on Randoph and michigan street, or many other public buildings of america erected in the 1920s. |
